Timo Nasseri
One of Six, Half a Dozen of Another
23. Januar – 15. März 2009

Kunstverein Arnsberg is pleased to present Timo Nasseri's first institutional solo exhibition in the new year.

Timo Nasseri (*1972) presents his projects Epistrophy, One and One and Spheres at Kunstverein Arnsberg. As the son of an Iranian father and a German mother, his work focuses on the encounter between the two worlds and the resulting problems. Research into his personal heritage leads him to cultural and religious places, insights and paradoxes, and shapes his social position. Elements from Persian and Islamic architecture are the starting point for the works in the exhibition. They are based on geometric formulas and symmetries, which Nasseri detaches from their scientific context, alienates and develops further in order to encounter new aesthetic dimensions. The development of the form leads to a meditative process in the work and in perception, in which complex visual systems are formed and historical themes are reflected.
