The pastime has become a relic. The word evokes memories of an activity that is not directed towards a productive goal, that is detached from time, open and random, like strolling, where you can perceive a lot of the world and yourself. The word, which has fallen out of time, brings back what we have lost and, as the title of the exhibition, is a door opener: the works on display invite us to take a stroll, be it through format, form, surface, technique or concept. With the annual exhibition ‘Zeitvertreib’, the Kunstverein Arnsberg is reviewing the exhibitions of the year that is drawing to a close: The works of Jon Lomberg, Ana Rajčević and Reiner Maria Matysik were on show in the summer in ‘After Life’ at the Kunstverein and in Matysik's exhibition ‘++O++’ at the Lichthaus, where Eva Meyer-Keller's ‘Out Of Hands’ was also on display. Ariel Reichman and Jackie Grassmann realised ‘Becoming Gewish’ at Kloster Wedinghausen and Sankt Laurentius in autumn. The group exhibition is complemented by positions that have made a lasting impression on the Kunstverein through their attitude and approach. For example, a bronze edition by Ayşe Erkmens, the only editioned work in the ‘not the colour it is’ group of works, will be on display. Marco Bruzzone and - for the first time - Lisa Tiemann are represented with wall objects. Also being presented for the first time are paintings by Josephine Hans, Thomas Chapman and Friedrich Franke. Yukihiro Taguchi is also showing paintings here - a new group of works in his oeuvre.
